Ikan Keli Salai Masak Lemak Cili Api - Recipe by Chef Fazli, Executive Junior Sous Chef, Makan Kitchen, DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur 


Smoked catfish 400gm
Coconut milk 90ml
Water 40ml
Turmeric leaves 15gm
Star fruits 25gm
Tamarind 12gm

Ingredients for blended

Shallots 15gm
Garlic 10gm
Ginger 10gm
Galangal  (optional) 10gm
Lemongrass 10gm
Turmeric 25gm
Chili padi 30gm
Green Chili 10gm


White pepper
Seasoning powder
Gula kabung (optional)


Tomato 1nos
Red Chili 1nos
Fried turmeric leaves  (optional) 10gm


  • Put all the blended ingredients into the pot with water, turmeric leaves and tamarind and let it simmer for few minutes. 
  • Add in the coconut milk, smoked catfish and seasoning ingredients. Stir gently.  
  • Lastly, add the tomato into the gravy before serving. Garnish with red chili and fries turmeric leaves.
